Helplessly Hoping

Tight, great harmony in an acoustic setting aside, Stephen Stills — of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young —  got only part of it right in the alliterative lyric to the 70’s-penned “Helplessly Hoping“:    They are one person/they are two alone/they are three together/they are for each other. Whaddya think?  What did he get right — or wrong?
